Stephen Johnson, noted musicologist and Radio Three presenter, will give this fascinating talk in the church where RVW's father was the Rector

Lunch with a tour of RVW’s childhood home Pilgrims, Down Ampney

Commencing at 12:45pm

This is a unique opportunity to visit “Pilgrims”, the house where Ralph Vaughan Williams was born, and to have a guided tour (by kind permission of the current owners) of the parts of the house which remain as they were when he was a small child. You will also have access to the gardens where RVW grew up. Luncheon is included.

Iestyn Davies, who has a burgeoning operatic career, sang with Gloucester Choral Society in Handel’s masterpiece Messiah in December 2006 and created an instant and lasting impression with the almost ethereal beauty of his amazing voice. If you have not heard Iestyn before, you can expect a rare treat in his song recital at All Saints Church in Down Ampney; it promises to be a performance to remember. He has chosen a programme of Vaughan Williams and other English composers.
