Invitation to a Choral Workshop – 2010

27th February 2010
10:00am, Chapter House, Gloucester Cathedral

The workshop is being run by Helen Porter, a professional composer, singer and voice coach.  She runs singing courses to provide training for amateurs and professionals alike.  Her teaching ethos is based on sound technical knowledge of the voice and building confidence through creating a supportive and encouraging atmosphere. If you would like to know more about Helen, please visit her website at http://www.counterparts.org.uk/index.html.

The workshop will divide into a morning and afternoon session.

In the morning, you will get the opportunity to explore:

- Vocal techniques

- The important relationship between body and voice

- How to improve the resonance and quality of the voice (singing and speaking)

- How to keep the voice healthy and prevent vocal fatigue

In the afternoon, we will further develop the techniques practised in the morning, working with music both in the Society’s current repertoire, and also with new material for demonstration.

The cost of the workshop is £10 for GCS members and £15 for non-members.  Tea and coffee will be provided but you will need to bring your own lunch.  Places are limited to about 90 so book early to avoid disappointment.

If you wish to reserve a place on the workshop, please contact GCS’s Membership Secretary on membership@gloucesterchoral.com.
